Ceramic is a generic term for products that are made from clay. Clay changes structurally when you process it by drying or baking the material. Eventually, a stonelike material emerges. Clay is a natural product. This results in products that are always unique when made with this material. During the baking process, the size, shape, and color might differ a little bit. This makes ceramic flower pots very popular: every product has its own character.

To turn clay into a stone-like material the material needs to be worked, shaped, dried, and baked. This traditional production process is followed by the craftsmen of Portugal. The planters are baked at temperatures going up to 1020 degrees Celsius. Sometimes the temperatures in the ovens might differ. This creates slightly different planters which makes every planter unique!

Crafted plant pots: the Ceramics Collection

. The Ceramics collection is made of clay with a liquid glaze layer on top. This layer is called the engobe. The result is a beautiful matt effect. We produce the ceramic pots using traditional methods in Portugal. The pots are fired in temperatures reaching 1020 degrees. Certain parts of the kiln become hotter than others, affecting the size or color of the final product. This creates the artisanal effect: each pot is a unique specimen.

. What makes this product line so great, besides its artisanal character, is that we do not use any bad chemicals during the production process. Yet the quality is guaranteed and the pots are water-resistant. This is because we add pigments and metal oxides to the clay. The coating on the inside is also made of natural material.
